Family tree made for me in the 1960s by my maternal grandmother, Annie Mae Hathcock, who was born Annie Mae Houghton:

In 1910, it looks like my granny's parents were live-in servants for another family.

Her sister Mary was called "Pike," as an adult, and I don't know why or when that started. She herself was Annie Mae officially, but was called "Mae."
