JH- My publisher and I were able to have the book taken out of publication in Australia last July (including the destruction of the remaining inventory) , and removed from Amazon.
JH-On July 9, 2013, my publisher wrote to say that the book has been made out of print and all stock was being recycled - she asked them for a certificate of destruction. If you have any reason to think that didn't happen, please let me know.
Chaley-Ann sent me this email after her publisher told her about my publisher's request:
"My publisher has received a worrying email from your publisher. They are asking us to destroy the few hundred remaining copies of the book and send a certificate. This will cost nearly $1,000+ in loss which will come out of my pocket.
I feel I have to be honest with you. I am a mother of four unschooled children (two of which have ASD) and I live off of benefits. I wrote the book to try and bolster my income a little and to promote unschooling/progressive parenting as it has had such a positive impact on my family life. It hasn't earnt me a cent so far and it now will cost me.
I explained to you that this was my first book, it was VERY hard to plan, to write, to edit, and to organise with my workload. But I managed it and was very proud of what I had achieved. I clearly wasn't trying to dupe anyone or plagiarise as I sent you a complimentary copy, and my book is packed full of references from others that I gained permission for, so I am clearly not trying to steal ideas. I and my publisher have made a mistake by not picking this up in the editing process. Somehow you weren't credited or permission sought and that was a huge error that I have apologised for and I understand why you would be confused and angry. I agreed to pay the costs to my publisher to change the next print run of the book to a second edition, and also the ebook. Will this not suffice? My publisher is very small (a stay-at-home mum herself) and I have only sold a couple of hundred copies so my book really isn't a hit and I do no promotion at all as I can't leave my children so it really never is going to be!
Regards,
Chaley.
SD- It was after July, though, that Chaley Ann was publishing "Ask the Shepherdess" things on facebook and a webpage, with things almost all from my book and site. I collected evidence and then wrote to her. She removed the facebook account and webpage, but didn't respond even though I wrote twice.

I am writing to let you know that two essays that appear in my 2001 book The Natural Child:Parenting From the Heart (ISBN 0865714401) were included, nearly verbatim, with no permission or attribution, in Chaley-Ann Scott's book The Shepherdess (ISBN 9781921632136), published in Australia by Wombat Books in 2012.
The two essays are "The Parenting Golden Rule" (which was retitled "The Golden Rule of Progressive Mothering" on page 9 of her book) and "Ten Ways We Misunderstand Children" (retitled "Misunderstanding", on page 89). The book includes at least eight more articles by other writers, with no attribution. These writers have also written, or are planning to write to the publisher of The Shepherdess.
I believe that you already know about this matter, as you have stopped offering The Shepherdess directly from Amazon. However, the book remains listed on amazon.com, even though there are no copies currently offered. The publisher of The Shepherdess, Rochelle Manners of Wombat Books, told me the book is no longer available from her company, and will not be reprinted (see enclosed letter). Please delete the complete Amazon listing for The Shepherdess so that no one can offer any more copies.
If you have any questions or need more information, please write to me at [email protected] or phone me at [phone number].
Thank you,
Jan Hunt
MY NOTE (Sandra):-As of today 2 books are listed on Amazon from Chaley Ann. The Shepherdess is no longer listed today 3/5/2014 but it was just a few days ago.

SD-I wrote to her on October 6 and October 13. I'll forward those to both of you, just so I'm not the only one who knows. (those letters)

Sandra notes (for reference; written later for this page):
-=- my book is packed full of references from others that I gained permission for-=-
Packed full of lifted quotes she did NOT ask permission for.
The only correspondence I found was her offer to send me a copy of the book she was excited to be writing, but she didn't send one. Then there were two more without any correspondence from me, FULL of things from my site and my book (and others' words from discussions in some cases, I think). She plagiarized Deb Lewis, Pam Sorooshian, Joyce Fetteroll and others.
