In a comparative discussion of some facebook prompts, this exchange appeared: Julie Autre:
Facebook did not ask me that kind of thing, because I'm french ! ( I'm the mother of the little boy who wanted to know why your were american in the rainy rencontre in Savoie ).
Sandra Dodd:
OH MY GOSH that was priceless. I was talking with a few people and Julie was holding her little boy up, and he laughed and hid his face and looked at me and laughed again. It was a happy laugh. He asked her something and she said he had asked "Why is she American?" I suggested she could tell him "When an American mother and an American father love each other *very much*..." but he was too young for that kind of wondering anyway. 🙂 Maybe his question was "What is an American doing HERE!?"
Julie Autre:
Sandra, you were the FIRST american he saw in real ! Thank you that you came !!! Julie.
The beginning had been "Facebook's prompt is 'What are you thankful for?' I like that, but I'm curious about whether they're asking everyone in the world, or just Americans. 🙂"
Here, if it's still there, and if you can see facebook.
