I thought it would be very simple to declare a day off. I mean what
do people think, I can afford a squad of goons to come to houses and
say "STOP LEARNING"? It's voluntary, y'know. I don't think I
know a single goon, let alone a squad, and they could no more get
around the world in 24 hours than Santa Claus (oh wait... shhhhhh.
sorry)

There was one cool blog post I can't find right now that had a
boycott declared. I liked that. It was in the spirit of the
attempt. Whose was that?

But a few people have seemed truly not to get the value of trying to
take a day off from learning. And complained about it in public, too.
Is it possible for someone without analytical ability and without a
sense of humor to unschool?

Years ago I wanted to set up a little pre-test to eliminate people
who weren't going to be able to unschool, and every time I brought up
the idea people talked me out of it. I think there are some things
people MUST have for unschooling to work, and perhaps a Learn Nothing
Day project will separate the creative-enough from the "huh?"

Sandy Feet has a boycott declared: http://sodonti.blogspot.com/2008/07/learn-nothing-day-boycott.html I don't know if that's the one you meant.

We are still waiting for our t-shirts, though. I hope they arrive before the 24th!

Does CafePress have a european printshop?

We ordered ours when you did and they arrived on Friday. I sent
another order for Bo, who did the tree art (used in the "O" and all
over my site), and Kirby (who hadn't gotten back to us about what he
wanted before we ordered the first time).

They'll still be good next year, unless this year is such a dismal
failure people fear to try again.

No it doesn't, they're shipping them out from the U.S. They'll get here in the next few days, I imagine, unless they get held up in customs.

I bet they hold it up just to help us boycott the day.

ooooh.
An international conspiracy!
That's even cooler.

WOULD any agency attempt to prevent us from taking a day off from
learning!? The cads...

There's a T-shirt for Learn Nothing Day? How did I miss this? Can
you post the link for the orders?

What sort of items would be on a pre-test for unschooling?

Questions to determine creativity and curiosity, to see whether
they're flexible thinkers, whether they believe children are humans
(not grubs)... stuff like that.
