Rebecca Singletary

I have been trying to understand unschooling for a while now and in so doing, I am beginning to see many things through the lens of unschooling and it is changing my perspective about myself and my family and led me to this realization........

I am not a problem to be solved. My children are not problems to be solved. My husband is not a problem to be solved.
We are each unique individuals in different places along this journey called "life". We are okay, just the way we are. We are learning. We are doing.

As a child, I was often criticized for my interests by my father. I know it was based on fear, manifested as concern. I think I've always had this nagging feeling there was something wrong with me.

I want something better for my children. It has been harder than it seems it should be to let go of control and find acceptance for them, just the way they are, but it is most definitely more peaceful and more joyful.

Thank you for the place to LEARN about unschooling. I love having my eyes opened to the value of all learning!!!

Thats the BIG realisation I found , and I got there finally thanks to unschooling, and it is compounded every day for me by this group also.

So many of the 'problems' it seems are the boxes we try to squeeze into, and shoehorn our kids into.

Unschooling is so liberating, I absolutely no longer see myself or my kids/partner as problems to be solved, and its so beautiful too - as only then do we really start to see the real them, and their full potential, and the gifts they are bringing to the world.
