The question has come up again.
It seems I have never created a page with the best of discussions about Santa, and it turns out I'm tired of writing about it. :-)

So I was hoping people with the time, mood and interest might be willing to look through some of these, maybe look for others at UnschoolingDiscussion (yahoo or google, and bring links, and maybe quote some best parts or nominate some posts for saving on my site for the future.

If some of you are the people who wrote in some of these previous years, maybe you have updates on how your plans and ideas played out?

Sorry to those for whom Santa isn't an issue for geographical or religious reasons.  There might be other traditional fictions you could apply the principles to, or you might just enjoy knowing it's one problem you don't need to deal with. :-)

December 2011, begins:  "My son is four and believes in Santa. Last year it was exciting to help fulfill this fantasy. I didn't plan to have Santa or not but he discovered him and we loved playing along. He loves all Christmas things and Santa fit right in.
This year I feel dishonest.... "

December 2010
". Anyway, up until now my
wife and I have been engaging in the whole santa thing. And I am ready
to give that up and share with her the truth. I am trying to find the
best way but realize that some damage to trust and a sense of magic in
the world might be lost. Anyone go through this?"

In part:  "I guess for me the question becomes if we stop lying to our kids about
Santa and all...do we destroy magic and as adults do WE really see (not
believe) or know that magic exists and what is magic? And do we have a
right to seek out the truth (experience) about magical things?

"For me believing and lying about Santa is in the realm of religion. "

That's just from two years.  NO doubt there are more.

It's being discussed at Radical Unschooling Info at facebook, and I had hoped to find links.  I am willing to build one, but am hoping for help.
