WEll...I've only had 3.5 years of an only child and since then he had to share us, so I can't really speak from experience. BUT, I think there'd be a lot of advantages with an only. Focusing on their interests without having to juggle three other children would be nice sometimes!
You should get Valerie Fitzenreiter's book "The Unprocessed Child". She raised her dd Laurie from birth with unschooling philosophies and it's a wonderful testament to the unschooling lifestyle, with an only.
