Just curious about the conference...about how many people do you think
will actually be there? Hundreds? I'm working on the "if's and can I's
and will I be able to's" and want to know what to expect. I'm dying to
meet some other unschoolers and make real connections. This site is so
wonderful, but I'd like to actually make some real friends who the girls
and I can get to know.

We have 84 registered right now at 11:31pm, May 20. Early bird deadline is 11
days away. There will be a HUGE increase in registrations that last
week---another, a week before the conference, and there'll be a few "at the
door" registrations. There will be more than 200, I feel SURE---maybe closer
to 300.

Most are from these e-lists and the message boards, but a few are (tri-state)
"locals" who hear about us through their homeschool groups. You'll "know"
most of the people there, virtually. Yuo'll be friends with many by the
weekend's end! It's a wonderful weekend!

OK everyone, my interest is sparked. I have to double check to see if this is
the same time as our conference in Cali, but I would love to come and bring
Kass and Kree. Has anyone here taken the train from Cali to South Carolina? If
so, how long of a trip is it? I ask because the girls have been dying to go on
the train and would love to take a long trip thru the states. If any of my
lurking buddies read this, let me know if we should hook up and plan a trip
across the country. Oooooh I'm getting excited. Keep your fingers crossed for me
that we can make it. I'm dying to put faces to names.

I don't think they are the same weekend. I know that last year I was thinking

about going and the airfare was really high, like $600 a person (x5). I
would
love to take a train ride, it would be something that Dylan could handle too,
but I know that train rides are more expensive than flying. Check it out
though
and let me know what you come up with.
