Unit studies is what I usually claim if pressed (being beat up all the
time in school, I'm unprepared for conflict). We've been involved in a
L-O-N-G unit study on trains, but if we make a visit to the Dr. office,
we do a short unit study on the health care system.

When I go to the dentist, I'm back on my unit study about Trains!! He's a
train-fanatic, and photographs trains on trestles as a hobby. He has great
photos he's taken, a bell off a steam engine in one of the examining rooms,
all the calendars are train stuff...

That's it. Next time we go do the food shopping and someone ask us why
the boys aren't in school, I'll say :" They are home schooling, and
today we are doing a unit study in home economics." :-)

I hope you're wearing a denim jumper when you say that!
And the boys should have their hair freshly combed and be wearing slacks and
dress shirts.

I did suggest exactly this reply to someone in KY who was concerned
about getting "turned in" if she let her kids be seen out in public
during "school hours."
