E-mail received in August 2008:

i used to read this list but had to cut down on my mail... however... i did post one thing and it has wound up as a google item in a search for my name... the third down. here is what it says:

:::sigh:::

now I am seeking employment and although i got an answer to my comment from sandra which recognised and responded to the light, irreverant tone in which the comment was made, I think it may be a serious liability for potential employers to see and I am wondering what, if anything could be done make this private or delete it entirely.

thanks and cheers ~ [person's first name]

Re: [UnschoolingDiscussion] Family "freakin out"

How does your son feel about not being able to write his name? It seems to me that he really could learn in a matter of minutes when he's interested. I used to spend hours when I was 9 or 10 practicing calligraphy. Hours and hours of "the quick brown fox jumps over a lazy dog," and such.

Whatever. I'm quite sure he'll learn when he wants to and you know what? I still can't play chess or behave well.

Cheers~

Hey!
I don't like chess because there's no storyline, no characters. :-) And when in the ancient days I was in school, my worst grades were always in conduct. I failed to make the Honor Society in high school not for grade average, but for... conduct. :-)

I wouldn't have changed it. They rewarded dullness and conformity. They honored meekness.
