Yes, I have been reading it with interest, because I have been interested
in adopting an older child but I am worried they will not accept us as
candidates, homeschooling and at our older age (40). I am so glad for you
that the adoption is proceeding smoothly so far. Congratulations and best
wishes! It is very encouraging.

I am so pleased whenever I hear of a good adoption about to happen. We have one
adopted from India (I was 41 at the time, and we homeschool) -- and in my Friends
(Quaker) meeting, adoption is now the norm rather than the exception -- we actually
have more adopted kids than the either kind, a veritable United Nations! (even 3
from Texas!)

I think your age would actually be an asset. I get a lot of questions from case workers initially regarding my "Youth." But our own case worker and the ones who get to talk to us always comment that it is not an issue due to my great maturity and understanding of the issues. You would not get those questions, as they would presuppose maturity due to your age.

Hi David ...

*United Nations*, I love it!!! ... one of our ds is from El Salvador and
the other is Mulatto and we call ourselves a *rainbow family* b/c none of us
look like alike ... several fms in our church have adopted from Russia,
Brazil, and Korea ... isn't it awesome how God builds families???
