Is there a rule against bleeding or vomiting in the unauthorized places,
too? I am trying to imagine a life of not permitting "the mess of
liquids and stains in my car or anywhere in my house outside of my kitchen
or dining room". Had I such a rule, I don't think I could have successfully
conceived two children (what with the inevitable stains of procreation and
all) much less rear them.

I certainly would be unable to follow my own rule.

I'm glad it wasn't. For a mother to be able to take a very stressful
situation like that, and STILL be looking for creative and respectful ways
to deal with it, was a nice thing to read.

I admit I laughed with delight when I read this! You're right, it sounds as though I wouldn't "allow" vomiting, etc., but in fact that has happened and I didn't give it a second thought. Somehow it seems different, but I see your point! Thanks for the refreshing viewpoint! :)
