IF your child is going thru the teething stage, DO NOT invest in an
appliance for splinting his/her teeth. I have been a Dental Assistant for
almost 2 years, and the Orthodontist at my office says to get the moldable
mouth protectors (the exact ones the kids use for football), follow the
instructions on it, and use that until your child has the adult teeth in for
at least the front 8 (top and bottom 4)

Thanks!  It's been over-long since we went to the dentist, will talk about it when we do...

Hi Tracy;

A dentist can make a special splint that is worn in the mouth at night.
The splint forces the jaw (painlessly) into the proper position.
Eventually the muscles of the jaw are conditioned too and help with
realignment.

A "professional" could explain this more precisely.
