He's absolutely right, some people cannot teach.....that's why it's
great that our kids DON'T need us to teach them, they can learn just
fine on their own.

Consider the source...
This author is a PhD. Fud. As in Elmer? :O)) But he is also deeeeeply imbedded in the system, to the point of being a in splinter group of the education faculty, "educational leadership."
Oh! Is that an oxymoron?
The Canadian Fraser Institute (ultra right wing think tank) studied "socialization" and home schoolers have more, not less. Elmer yapping without any data to back it up!
His data is all classroom based. Competent teachers in classrooms give better results **in classrooms.** Then he yaps about the classroom creating democracy, an ancient Greek word. No classrooms then, Fud!
THEN, he ASSUMES [bad!] that homeschoolers are isolated. Sheesh!
Yep, I'll email him - I'll be a bit nicer :O))

I have serious problems with the idea that classrooms breed democracy. I doubt there are any children from wealthy families in inner city public schools. If anything, schools breed classism; who has what sneakers or who has how many hickeys or who has this kind of hair.
I fail to understand why more parents don't homeschool; however, I fear that as the numbers increase, the govt. will come down on us.

It's pretty funny that the day before the Dr Fud article, USA Today ran this
article in support of homeschooling:

I'm not exaggerating at all. Don't defend ALL homeschoolers from his
charges. That would be as wrong as not defendng any of them.
If he's come across some Christian homeschooling family whose children are
told they don't NEED to socialize outside of Sunday at church, and whose father
is the principle and mother is the teacher, he might know more about that than
some people here do.
