we've used our newsletter to get our first id (noodle kidoddle). here in
austin half price and now bookpeople (very new) also offer discounts that's
all i can remember off hand.

i think it's 10 to 20 % but what is discount varies as well;  some pleces only class/educational stuff is;  and others it's everything so being really nice to the clerk would probably not hurt:)
