If I do, I'll just put a homeschool name on it (our
current is Barking Dog Free School) and give them some subjects and
grades like you listed. I figure they'll accept what I give them.

How many of you have official or unofficial homeschool names? Early on we
gave ours one, not because we had to, but just cuz. Ours is Collins Cove
Clothing Optional Homeschool. Collins Cove because we lived across from
Collins Cove beach when we started homeschooling, and Clothing Optional
because my son tended to run around nake at the time and we thought it was
funny.

Now we live across the street from the Harmony Grove Cemetary. I suppose we
could change the name to Harmony Grove Unschool and Mortuary....

What we have actually used
Boring:
Dodd Homeschool
SCA-related:
Duckford Academy
and
Duckford Elementary (for Holly)

and what we've joked about always but never put on paper anywhere is:

Our Lady of Perpetual Vacation

In California if you use the Private School Affidavit (R-4) method of
being legal, you must have a name for your school. Some people have
fancy sounding acronyms that stand for things like Freedom and Fun for
.kid's name.Academy. Other folks use their street name, or something
else that the kids like. I hear that the use of Hogwart's had to be
sadly discouraged by numerous parents as being a definite red flag for
officialdom.

We sometimes jokingly refer to our house as the Wighthouse Academy. Our
surname is Wight.

HiTekMom

To comply with the laws of NC on becoming a 'private school" we thus dubbed ourselves: "Train Them-Up" Christian HomeSchool. Complete with, an email address, a website (coming soon), letterhead and logo t-shirts (for when we take trips). Well, though not necessary, we love creating that kind of stuff. - Monica

When I've needed a name (like when sending away for free educational stuff),
I've used--not surprisingly--Blue Sky Learning Center. :-)
I also just entered a raffle yesterday for a cool folding mountain bike that
has "Blue Sky" painted on the side. Sponsored by Blue Sky soda, now that's
my kind of bike (hope I win!)

We have to name ours for the state for filing purposes because we are
technically a private school. Ours is "hands on homeschool." Chosen by the
boys. I thought it sounded too.......open to interpretation. Did that sound
OK I don't want to ruffle any feathers?

We have an artist in town named Blue Sky. Don't know his given name, it's
been Blue as long as I've known him (30 years?). For those of you here last
year or familiar with Columbia, he painted the "Tunnel Vision" and sculpted
the "Fire Hydrant" near the hospital where Sandra was morphined up.

Thanks Lisa! It just seemed right. I mean, we've come full circle to
