Anyone know anything about dreadlocks?
I dreaded Heathers hair yesterday and at first the locks were tight but today they seem much looser. I don't know if this is normal as I've never done it before.

I have dreaded my friends hair many times. Some of it has to do with the
"nappy"ness of the hair ( for lack of a better term). Her hair is softer and
not as tight so hers loosened up at night at first. Also if it is shorter it
tends to loosen up more than if it is longer. You just need to keep twisting
it each day for a few days to keep it dreaded. Also don't wash it for a
while. The washing it will make it looser as well. After a while it will
stay just fine.

Ta muchly. She was a bit distressed that her dreads were looser. I'll re-twist them tomorrow and use dread-wax again. Hopefully in a week or so they'll start to 'lock'.
The neighbours now think we are even more disreputable than before :-)

As long as they stay twisted and do not come out they will tighten up. You
may have to twist at times as the hair grows. For the most part it will dred
on its own. DO have to be careful if you want a manicured look that they do
not start to merge together. LOL. Also check to see what gets in there. I
picked out a moth from my friends hair LOL. Never know what will get stuck
and if you can't see the back of your hair you may never know it. LOL.

Kelli,
I read your post under the subject of dreadlocks....ROFLOL thought you were
selling some. Pictured that you had so many dreadlocks you were going to
either have to sell them or move to another house. LOL

What's really funny to me is that I have considered having dreads put in my hair, it is so thick and gets so big in itself that it wouldn't be much of a change!

I don't know if my dh could handle that tho' , I'm radical enough right now with the other changes! :)
