If your reply is to my post on the record keeping form. What work?

I Write in Reading, math, science, social studies, language arts, and
I make 30 copies at a time of it. Thats 15 weeks for 2 children. Then
I write in the child name and the dates of that week on one and mark
the hours in each subject. Total the hours for that week carry them
over to next weeks. Simple. ~>Chloe

Do anybody have a format for a report card? I'm having a problem
creating one. Please, e-mail me with one.

You live in Texas. Why do you need a report card?

You do make it much more simpler!
I think it was the way the website presented it that seemed like so much to
do.
I live in a portfolio state, one that loves to ask for "extras". We even have
the BOE considering changing the regulations due to that old excuse of
"homeschoolers have been providing us with that information for a long time
anyway so we are changing the statutes to reflect that"
I was thinking that I would do it the way you just said you would do it.
Since registering is an option in missouri, do you do that?

I meant to go on here.
I live in a portfolio state, one that loves to ask for "extras". Fortunately,
we also have the option of an "umbrella" school. I found one that is very
unschooling friendly and requires NO paper work, just a checklist once a
year.
I tried going through the county school system portfolio reviews but found
that it was very stressful to try to "speak their language" and a huge
hinderance to unschooling succesfully. I think the ways that schools teacha
nd compartmentalize and label, to be so false and out of life's context. I
couldn't try to pretend to work within a system that is so wrong for us.
When we move to our new state witch has very similar laws, I don't intend on
registering my children with the state at all.
Elissa, who is disgusted to think about the fascist implications of the last
sentence.

No we do not register. The less involvement with the state and the ps
the better. It is simple, this way it shows that one, my children
are in attendence, their names and the dates are there to see, if for
some reason we don't do anything educational on any given day, I just
write no school where the hours go. It shows they are being
instructed in the 5 required subjects each day and has the hours in
each then the total hours. ~>Chloe

We have to do similar nonsense in PA. It is ridiculous really--how
can a child be absent from his home? Would that be on a day they
sleep over at Grandma's house? lol And really, are there any days
where nothing educational happens? A day when the child doesn't
really think about anything at all? Maybe if they have a fever of
106 and are asleep for most of the day.

Silly isn't it! LOL. Our state seems more interested in
homeschoolers meeting the required 1000 hours total (600 core, 400
non-core)in the 5 required subjects, then if children are actually
learning. As for days of absents, as we were ahead in hours *on
paper* anyway, so we just took a week off for Thanksgiving and am
taking a grand 2 weeks off for Christmas, *on paper*, LOL. We must
keep the records straight!! :) Another thing about absents. Since
my children have been out of ps, they have been Very Healthy! They
are not catching every cold, virus that other children in ps are
spreading around. ~>Chloe
