***But then a lot of the "experts" have been saying recently that grains are
really bad for us.***

Actually, I have come to the conclusion that grains and carbohydrates are the worst things for me, personally. I'm going on a combination of research (particularly of paleo-diet theory and blood-type diet theory) and my own experience based on how I feel after I eat certain foods.
I know that the best diet for me is fresh fruits and vegetables, organic meats, nuts and seeds. I have a hard time sticking to this 100 percent since carbs are my comfort foods, but I try to keep it in mind at all times and keep carbs to a minimum.

It's interesting to me that so many people see grains as good and meats as bad since I've had the opposite experience.
One thing I've learned about food and nutrition is to "never say never." Nobody has the last word!

We've just started to follow a "paleo-diet" (I like that term), and, while
it's been tough, seems to be working. I've always had high
cholesterol/triglycerides, and I'm currently waiting to see the results of
my last bloodwork to see if this diet has made any change in my #'s. My
wife is a diabetic, and she's noticed large improvements in her blood
sugar measurements.
