only one parent needs a degree and that is if you are registered with the
county to homeschool. if you are registered with an "umbrella school" it is
treated like a private school in which you are a teacher, it is not regulated
by the state.

I can't be any "umbrella school" -- it must be a Church-related school as defined by TCA. ::sigh::

It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.
Education is not the filling of a bucket but the lighting of a fire.
If you have knowledge let others light their candles by it.
We shall light a candle of understanding in our hearts which shall not be put out.

I used to live in Knoxville and went through the same situation with the
umbrella school. We HAD to use a church school for it. We found one that
did not require us to sign a statement agreeing with them on religious issues
but this still really bothered me. I felt that it was a violation of the
separation of church and state for Tennessee to only allow the umbrella
schools to be church schools. I wish someone would take them to court on it.
I made phone calls about it to various groups but didn't get anywhere at the
time.
