Alan & Brenda Leonard

I'm curious about something. These are message headers from digest, sans
messages. I'm interested in the time/date stamps. Are the -0500 -0400
times indicating the hours away from another time zone? But then I end up
wondering why Pam, in California comes out as EDT (which I'm certain does
not include CA!), and I come out as +0200, when I know that (in Germany) I'm
6 hours ahead of EDT.

It's not earthshattering, but hey, I was interested!

I think AOL timestamps everybody Eastern time because that's where the
computers are. I know if I'm up til 2:00 in Mountain time it looks like I
was up til 4:00 on the e-mail<g>.

No, it make you look like an early riser like me :-)

The + and - amounts are relative to GMT. This is not something Yahoo
does but something each mailer program does.
Since you, in Germany, are +0200, I'd assume that GMT does not switch to
Daylight Savings Time as most of Europe and North America do!

There is a lot of information in a full mail header - we see only a
portion of it usually.
