Yeah. We'd quietly toyed with the idea of waiting until next April. But we've
decided to stick with the fall. We have a planning meeting later this week.
And we should hear from the hotel next week to confirm (we're changing
hotels, BTW <G>) whether it'll be Sep or Oct.

Speakers:
Sandra Dodd
Pam Sorooshian
Anne Ohman
Mary Gold (Zenmomma)

Columbia, South Carolina. Everybody COME!!

I sure hope so!! But I have some pictures of her in the hospital bed with her
leg up, which was not as good as hearing her speak, but still great pictures
for storytelling!! :)

Mind you, I'm up to 30 miles on my bicycle so mebbe I'll be less flabby this year. But you still ain't seeing my birthday suit. Unless the lights are off.

I've just got David Albert's book but I must admit that it made me feel slightly inadequate :-(
We have musical instruments and the kids would like the play them but we don't have the cash for lessons so they sit unused. I can play a recorder and thats about it.
While I admire him and love his writing I'd like to read a book where the kids don't get up till mid-day, play GTA for 6 hours straight and say 'huh?' when you ask them a question.
Shockingly enough mine havn't built a weather station, sjow no interest in tree types and areb't interested in fractals.
Are there home educators with kids like that?

We haven't completely decided yet. I am really homesick and I want to go home. DH wants to stay another two years.
I am also aware that on a UK salary we would never be able to afford to visit the US again so common sense says we should stay another coupla years and see as much as we can. But common sense has
nothing to do with homesickness.
So I don't know.
DH is applying for jobs here in the US and back home in the UK. Then we'll roll a dice.
Maybe if I lived in a community with lots of unschoolers and no traffic instead of uptight North Virginia I'd be happier. Every time I find an unschooler here, after a bit I find them making their child
do curriculum cos they got anxious and while people make their own decisions it becomes difficult to explain to my kids why so-and-so wont play cos their mother considers 'school' more important than
playing.
Sigh.
