Dear all,
Thanks for the suggestions thus far.
I have heard a few times about the Wishcraft Book.

I can't believe that my Can. friends, Diana or Tia , did not put their "oar
in". THey are book readers with huge ballycumbers. Right !!

Any more suggestions from anyone .. ???
Someone told me to read Gandhi or see the movie.

I need some reading that will remind me that I am going to survive. Strange
place that I am in. Usually I am the rock for all my friends and now I am the
one floundering and LOOKING for a rock as an anchor.

Thanks for your support,
IT is nice to have someone to type to in the wee hours.

Brooke,
I'm sorry you're having a hard time.
I second the Gandhi motion and recommend one or all of the biographies of
Mother Theresa. You may not be Catholic, (I'm not ) but this was an
amazing life. There's an autobiography, I haven't found yet but I'm
searching.

I read a book recently called The White Stone by Christie Hart Lips (
sounds like a porn queen ) I'm sorry I don't have the ISBN # , I've
loaned the book out.
It's fiction, but one of those ah ha! books. (at least for me)
Hang in there,

Iyanla Vanzant has some great books out there - "In the Meantime" is
about relationships, "One Day My Soul Opened Up" is a spiritual
testimony, and "Until Today" is a great personal growth book.

Is Diana here too?
My ballycumber is so huge it fell over last night. <g> But it's filled
with books about the Middle East, writing for children, Home Education
Magazine, a book about physics, and children's books to study
technique. I've been wracking my brain for something inspirational that
I've read recently, and I just can't think of any. I'm still working on
it. Sorry things are hard for you right now.

Okay. Having seen this odd word twice now I just gotta ask: WHAT is it?
Some kind of bookcase I assume?

I found myself listening to a Leo Buscaglia tape yesterday. He was
talking about love (what else) and fear. I was so soothed by his
words. I'm going to look for some of his books at the library.

You have to click on "Show the whole list" or I could just tell you.

"Ballycumber, noun, one of the six half-read books lying in your bed."
Great word.

It's become part of the standard vocabulary on homeschool-ca. I believe
it's from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe, or one of those, but I've
never read them. It's the pile on your bedside table (or bedside chair in
my case) of books that you haven't yet gotten around to reading. Anyone in
the know want to add to that?

Mother Theresa has a book out with her poems and thoughts and little stories. I read it in the library and cried! It really makes you stop and remember what is important in your life. Very grounding for me.

"In my own words" Short stories, prayers, quotes. She's got one that says something like Lots of people will do the big jobs but not many will do the small ones. Gets me through those menial tasks.

Enjoy,
