Just wanted to add in that I wish when I was younger I had discovered
other forms of feminine products. Tampons are so bad for our bodies and pads
too b/c they are bleached to become white products and other reasons. Never
douche unless medically needed. I have a few sites I can send you if you'd
like more info. I just now find it very important for other women to know
these facts. off my box now. :o)

well, I would say pre-teens 9-14 probably depending on how  mature they are
my 14 yo is still immature for her age and she still really digs it
my almost 13 year old still likes it
and as for young, it depends on how puberty is effecting them or if they have questions about puberty mine didn't really need it until about 11 they didn't start periods until 12 but they may want the information much sooner it is well written and easy to understand it does not cover sex or boys just your own body and how to care for it it kind of helps if they really like the book they may be more willing to wash their face or hair without being told because the book said it was a good idea therefore it becomes their idea and not yours!
strange but this is how they work!

About the American Girls body book - it was recommended to me when I whined
that my 8yo is developing breasts already and she can't read well enough to
read most of the sex information books, nor is she interested in or ready for
the more heavy duty books anyway. We bought it, she loves it, it filled the
immediate need. I heard from friends with girls from 8 to about 14 or so that
it was a particular favorite.
