I hadn't seen this mentioned yet on this list (though I'm behind on digests,
so I apologize if this is a repeat)...
The Audubon Society and Cornell Lab of Ornithology sponsor a backyard bird
count every year. You just count the birds in your backyard (or elsewhere),
and submit it via their website at:

http://birdsource.cornell.edu/gbbc

Just thought some of you might be interested in doing this with your kiddos.
Mackenzie and I just got finished entering our bird-tracking data from
today. Tomorrow we're going to make reports from several different sites.

We're doing it.  This is our 2nd time and it is a lot of fun!  And Gramma and
my sister have joined in too
