If you could donate warm clothing, sleeping bags, blankets, as well as
dry food and needful things, like torches, we will transport and
distribute these to the needy.

Our contact numbers: 02740-206 29   (Paula)

                                  -218 79  (Karan Sinh)
Swati, Michael, Anand, Dr. Sridhar, Dr. Manjushi, Dr. N. Roy, Dr. Anita
Roy, Dr. Ashok, Kanti, Daniel, Hansa.

I would be willing to send some clothing, and i would like to know, are these
numbers in India?  I assume so. So one just calls these contacts and gets a
shipping address? Are any types of clothing (what climate) good?

I'm checking into the "materials" donation question now. The e-mail
from Gujarat was sent throughout India as well as to me, so I think they
were hoping to get materials locally.

However, I have an inquiry into the American Friends Service Committee
in Philadelphia to see whether they are working on a materials shipment.

Funds are obviously more flexible for them to use. My friends live in
VERY rural areas, where transport under normal conditions is pretty
difficult.

I personally don't think that all pro-life people are fanatics but I do
believe that they are pushing their beliefs on others if they want abortion
to be illegal.  You can say that you are pro-life but agree that our laws
should be pro-choice. I think there are many people out there with this view.
That would mean that you are personally against it but don't feel it is your
right to make the choice for other woman. If you want abortion banned, then
you obviously trying to push your views on to other women. There is no way
around it. My solution: if you don't want to have an abortion, don't have
one. Why can't it be that simple?

In addition, you can't possibly believe that most people with prolife
philosophy act like the screaming nuts in front of clinics. Bumper stickers
and the like are an exercise in free speech, and even so, I'd be willing to
bet that most prolife people don't use them or any other obvious sign of
their stance. It's like painting all Xians with a Jerry Falwell brush, or
all
blacks with a Jesse Jackson brush, because they are the most vocal in those
groups.

ok... I was going to concentrate on blackberries, but I am far too curious
and had to continue reading! LOL I had to answer this if I could with all due
respect to all in the conversation:)

It isn't that simple because human beings are not that simple. Let me explain
a bit and hope I wont get slammed. This is not necessarily my viewpoint
though I am pro life.

To people who believe that really is a child inside that there womb, then to
take that life truly is murder. To people who believe that ... children are
going in the clinics alive and coming out dead. That is what they see. To
them ... standing by and watching that is no different then standing by and
watching a holocaust.

That is why this issue won't go away. Pro choice people passionately believe
they are right and pro life people passionately believe they are right. you
have an impasse no matter how you look at it.

Back to Blackberries:)
