I am trying to find a girls teen magazine for my daughter. Karen is
12, most of the ones I have seen are a tad much, ( look sexier,
better diets, etc.), I thought someone might have an idea of a nice
magazine without all the huff. She enjoys reading about Peacemakers
and thought there might be one along those lines. Thank you
for your time and expertise.

hi tami,

i'm 15 now, but when i was younger i used to read "american girl" and
"girl's life." though i wouldn't call them intellectually stimulating,
they're not as beauty and fashion-oriented.

i'm currently addicted to BUST, which is an indie mag for girls -- though
it's geared for a liberal 17-and-up audience. it's very politically-focused,
feminist, and has a lot of underground media, so i'm not sure if that's what
you're looking for. it can be raunchy, but it's outrageously witty and
intelligent. you can check it out at www.bust.com.

hope that helps you out!

Me,too! I also like Girls' Life. It's for slightly older girls(say
12-15)than American Girl. And there are no sex tips, or ridiculous outfits.

try new moon and teen voices, very amazing magazines. especially teen voices
its more of a general magazine. New moon is more stories, literature, but it
is written all by young female bodied children.
