Stella,
My hubby and I were trying to eat less meat, but I was extremely tired, moody
and a few other things (not enough protein, I am assumming. I can't have to
much dairy my nursling gets sever gas cramps if I do) We went back to meat,
and the symptoms seems to be easing. I would love to eat less meat though.
It is a killer on our food budget.

What does the soy do that she can't have it? Just curious as it is a bean.

guess what there's more of in infant formula milks...

Hi Stella,
I just recently became vegan. I've been veggie for some time now and had
always wanted to become vegan, but found it somewhat difficult. Just last
week however, I was diagnosed as being lactose intolerant. This made my
choice pretty easy. I was also diagnosed with asthma, so consecquently I've
given up all refined sugar for the sake of my immune system. White flour is
next on my list. Who knows maybe, I'll end up going raw. :)

hello- all this talk of english bacon and chocolate, feel that I
must say that even though we live in england we don't eat any of
this.
we are vegans (strict vegeatarians) and we don't eat any animal
derived ingredients. so no bacon or cadburys chocolate!
any more vegans on the list?

We found Rice Dream ice cream in 4 or 5 flavors at one of the larger local
health food stores. It's not bad for a milkshake IMO. The rice milk is the
same brand, and she likes it because since she's stopped nursing it's
basically the only thing she has had (except for a brief period of testing
dairy). We do have to add oil to it because it is so
low in fat though. I occassionally use it for cooking things that would have
no other potentially harmful ingredients for her. It also comes in vanilla
and chocolate flavors, too, but we haven't tried those.

lettuce! no, just kidding :) we use all of the meat (and dairy) replacement
products we can get our hands on. morning star farms makes tons of them. my
kids even had meatless corn dogs for lunch yesterday! also tons of pasta.
for snacks we have fresh fruit, crackers, corn chips, etc. It's not as bad
as it sounds.

Just curious, since it is a digestion thing and not an allergy thingy, have
you tried goat's milk? I know when we had goats we had lots of folks that
bought it because it is easier to digest than bovine dairy products.

Wouldn't you know she refuses to even try eggs?
my dd too. she can now tolerate when i eat them, but for the longest time
just what she would get via breasmilk would give her bloody diarrhea. yuck.
i'm ok with her not wanting to try them. i figure it's her body's way of
telling her it's not going to handle them well. i still concider her to have
an egg allergy and prob. always will. they say that if a child hasn't
outgrown an allergy by 2 then it most likely will be life long. i know this
isn't always the case, but with our recent switch to veganism, it's prob. a
moot point. :)

It comes in strawberry and banana also and the kidlets love those two. We

Hi Stella,
My husband is vegan and the rest of us are increasingly becoming so...I
still have a few vices, as do the children.

Hi,fellow future vegetarian and unschoolers,
I love this subject of vegetarianism having gone this way myself in the last
year. Still working on the hubby, though. Anyway, some advice from a
newbie trying to eat vegetarian. We cut out the red meat first and I'm now
working on cutting poultry. At first, I tryed eating no meat at all but
found it very hard that way. This was does work for some though, I have
heard. As I gain more substitute recipes it is getting easier and easier to
cut out the old ones with the meat. I just found a meatless taco mix from
Trader Joe that I like.
Cheers,
Joyce
