List shutting down

Given that this list has been very, very slow lately, and it really isn't providing any information that isn't available elsewhere, we've decided to shut it down. As soon as we figure out the details (yahoo's new changes are throwing us for a loop!) the list will go to read-only, so that it's still possible to search for old discussions. There's some good stuff in the archives. If you still like the Yahoo Groups format, and you like the particular style of discussion on this group, you might check out the Always Learning list, where you'll still see me and Joyce in addition to Sandra Dodd and other wonderful writers. If you'd like a list with less big names (but still very opinionated people with big personalities!) you might check out Always Unschooled, where you'll find me, Brie Jontry, and Connie Coyle. Yahoogroups flushed their archives, and Always Unschooled went quietly away.
Always Learning migrated to Groups.io, and is still available in 2026.
The facebook group Meredith linked is still there, and its archives are good, but facebook itself slips and slides underneath it; it's not as stable as it once was.
The best remaining resource is Just Add Light and Stir. You can subscribe there. Each day there's a photo and quote and a link or two to something related to whatever quote I've found (or sometimes some new writing to match a photo). There's a randomizer, so if I'm gone you can still poke around! If you go in with a computer, use the image tags. You can see all cats, or waterfalls, or rainbows.
