Sorry to go OT, but wasn't; there a woman here that breastfed her adopted
child? I have a friend that will be adopting a child from China soon, and she
needs help on relactation and adoptive bfeeding...(besides Kellymom and La
Leche - she is hoping for personal expiriences)

Thanks! Feel free to email me privately, k?

When i was 18 i gave a baby up for adoption, his mom BFed him for nearly 20
months. It took her 6 months to get her milk in, it was easier for her then
for some because she had, had a baby when she was 19 so she had previously
lactated. She used a drug (i dont remember the exact name i know it was a nose
spray) that the side effect was lactation, then she pumped and pumped and
pumped for 6 months till she finally started producing enough to actually BF.
It isnt an easy process and it is not 100% that she will lactate but it's
worth a try.

Thanks so much for that bit of help. She still has a bit of milk from a
birthed baby, so that should help her out a bit. The baby is yet born, so she
needs to get on it then :) Thanks so much!

Love,
Karen

Go to mothering.com. I think they ran a whole article
on the subject and there are lots of personal
experiences if you search the discussions.
