My son, who is ten is interested in the Revolutionary war ( I keep typing
revolutionarly for some reason, Narly man!) and I was hoping for some
good movie titles from some of you. Bloody is ok. Long is ok, if
there's plenty of blood.

It's one of his first movies. Australian. He plays an adult retarded man
who lives with his parents, and works with his dad.

It's really touching. You'll learn a lot. Very thought provoking.
And there is much of a very young Mel Gibson in shorts. Swim trunks. Work
clothes.

And if you're planning on attending the SC Live& Learn Unschooling
conference, you'll be RIGHT smack dab in the middle of the Revolutionary War.
Camden (with its revolutionary war parks, reinactments, museums, and stuff)
is only a 30 minute drive from my house. The character Gibson played was
loosely based on the Swamp Fox, Francis Marion---local hero. Tarleton
Bannister was housed in Camden. And the movie was filmed here. We
chocked-FULL of "colorful" characters! <g>

This is a great movie. I saw it years ago and then when I saw him
advertised to play in another movie I raced to see it as well.
Unfortunately the movie was Mad Max -- not quite what I'd hoped for:)

through it and I know I will be using it a lot. My children are
always on the look out for movies about the things they are

I have never seen the movie "Tim", but I read the book a long time
ago. I didn't want to see the movie since I enjoyed the book so much.
I didn't want to ruin it. Now that I know that Mel Gibson was in it,
I think I'll mosey on over to our library's website and see the movie
