The history of "Tennessee Colony, Texas" (home of the electronic McGuffey
readers' business)
This is like a foreign country to me, and I'm just one state over.

Hey, hey! Thou shalt not rile the Texans. It confuses us.
So, what's foreign about the history of Tennessee Colony, TX, Sandra? It has
all the major hallmarks of most town histories in this state: odd name, no
apparent reason to settle there, racial unrest (I'd lay odds that there
still aren't too many non-lily-white persons in town), direct connection to
the prison system. (OK, that last isn't that common, but not uncommon
either!)
Maybe I've just lived here too long...
