politics and the court system

my 10 year old is now interested in learning about current american politics and the court system. he wants me to read stuff with him, primarily, although i bet good video resources would be fun too. any suggestions?

Watching any of the Law and Order shows would be a good way to learn about the court system and even politics. I myself have learned a lot from them.
