I was wondering if anyone on the list had the ability to convert reel movies
(I think that is what they are) to VHS or DVD. I have some of my father, who
died when I was 4 1/2 and I don't really remember him, but would love to see
his face and maybe hear his voice.

The process is called "telecine" [pron: telly - sin - ee] - basically
someone projects the film and then shoots it on the screen with a video
camera so that it is now in digital format. There should be facilities that
do it near you. I'd try looking up (google or the yellow pages) Film Post
Production studios and asking them about it.
