recommendations I can pass along?

Hi All...

Wondering if anyone could suggest an online video game for ds, age 9 and dd,
age 11. They're not into war games, are on quite often with Webkins and
other favorites are the likes of Sonic the Hedgehog and Avitar.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks...

Jayn likes all the free games at www.everythinggirl.com which is the Mattel
site - Barbie, Polly Pocket, My Scene, Kelly, Pixel Chix. We bought and
downloaded Diner Dash which Jayn also likes. It has a free trial version
(but I don't have the link - it's on Jayn's computer - so please use
Google.)

I like Bookworm Adventures, but it is definitely for readers.

My dd's recommend Club Penguin, neopets, or Runescape. There is a lot to do
on Runescape that in not fighting. You can cook and make tools, do quests,
etc.

We enjoyed www.bigfishgames.com. There are tons of games to choose from
and you can play each game for an hour free to see if you want to own
it. Also, if you agree to buy a certain number of games over 6 months
or a year, the price is pretty reasonable. Some of our favorites
include Insaneaquarium, Wonderland Adventures and Snailmail.

We also like Club Penguin and Dragon Fable. Depending on the age of
your children, Webkinz is also fun (you need to purchase a Webkinz
stuffed animal to get the code to play.) The animals run from $10 -
$15.00 and each pet gives you a one year membership to the site.

My 11 year old daughter loves Furcadia--it's an rpg. She could spend hours there--in fact it's fun, safe, and very educational (perhaps not intentionally, lol). Through this game she has been inspired to learn to do computer graphics and art, her verbal and written skills have zoomed to the point that her descriptive writing is beautiful and rich, a wonder to behold. Plus as a rather shy girl she is learning to socialize with different types of people from aroudn the world.

It's totally free, too.

Not sure if anybody already mentioned Neopets? Even "I" got a neopet
and played lots of games there. Really fun - lots of variety.

Not in our house! My 8 yo liked the battle element of it, so I'd sit
and find words for him, easy at first, and he'd try spelling them (I
tried to find phonetic words) and I'd help however he wanted,
sometimes telling him the letters, sometimes saying sounds slowly,
sometimes pointing and clicking. He's on his way to reading and
writing this way, now sounding out names of items he picks up in
World of Warcraft. Not something I planned, but what worked cause he
liked the graphics! (And not that I'm endorsing phonics - it's just
what worked for him.)

Oh, another online game I recently learned of and thought was way
cool was http://linerider.com/ . Does anyone know if the physics of
that is accurate?

Jayn just got a "Shining Stars" toy (about $15), which is similar to her
Webkinz animals. The owners get to name a star, choosing the constellation
area of the sky, with the Star Registry. They have a website with games and
activities. Jayn is really enjoying editing 60 second movies from a bunch of
choices of scenes, graphics and music tracks available. We still have a ways
to go exploring all the activities available there.

We like to go here every so often to play games. Short games. Peaceful
music. Different.

Sorry for delay in replying to this post, but the best game I've seen
my two play is "Toontown", really funny, can meet other friends
online, safe as any game can be and full of jokes that can be
memorised and repeated to friends. My girls are 9 and 11 so this
may be just what you are looking for. Another game they enjoyed, but
passed over when they discovered toontown, was "Virtual Villagers"
which is through "Arcadetown".

Hope this helps

Nearly forgot one other - cartoon doll emporium is also a fave with
my girls.
