I've been thinking it's time for a road trip down further southwest. It's
been awhile. Y'all better be prepared for a knock on your door. ;-) Having
cool people to meet makes the trip that much more desirable.

Cool. Is it okay if Conor brings some magazines down for Kirby and Marty?

I'm offering you and anyone else a warm welcome (personal and weather-wise)
if ever in the Phoenix, AZ area. Come on over - though I am lacking a porch.

Thanks. All this talk of porches reminds me of a great quote from The Divine
Secrets of the YaYa Sisterhood:

"I want to lay up like that, to float unstructured, without ambition or
anxiety. I want to inhabit my life like a porch."

Love that line.

The invitation is open year round, of course. But I agree, winter is best. Actually, spring and fall are fine, too. But somehow, even with the four seasons, we usually end up with a summer that is six months long! Let me tell you, a dry heat means diddly when it is 118 degrees outside.

When do you get to New Zealand on your getting-to-meet-everyone trip?

Carol

Sharon Rudd

My father and his wife have been to New Zealand a
couple of times (twice), perhaps we can tag along next
time.....They went to Argentina and Chili in
November.....

Is this an open invitation to us all, or are you
teasing?

We should make a list of who wants visitors.
I do. I'm in North Virginia, just outside of DC. Loads of civil war
sites etc etc.

Yes, thankyou. Don' wanna see the president, but I do

was quite strange, then....

Me, me! We went to NZ for 3 months a few years ago (before kids) and I'd love
to go back. I think international travel is so important to opening people's
eyes to the variety of choices we don't see in our culturally inspired
blindness.

Oh sure, but I'd call first so you don't get a barking dog and some kids who

And you're all welcome to come to Salem, MA. Close to Boston, fun in its own

but PACKED.

Unschoolers are welcome here too. We are just outside of Seattle.
We have a large home with lots of room. Currently we are remodeling
the daylight basement. Yea! So maybe by the time anyone made their
way this far west we will be rid of all that pesky orange carpet and
dark paneling.

Anyone's welcome - and one day we might even have a house for you to
stay in <g> At the moment we sleep in the house, but everything else is
in the sleepout attached to the garage. Still, that's civilised - up
until a couple of months ago we were sleeping in the garage. Anyway, we
always have floors or tents for extra sleeping bodies :-) We also have
11 acres of bush and a stream and a waterfall, and are only 10 minutes
drive from the best surf spot in New Zealand and I wouldn't live
anywhere else ever again!

Well come on over then. People seem to visit Virginia for the historical
sites. Harpers Ferry is nice but the battlefield sites are just fields.
Once they tow away all the bodies and guns it's boring ;-)
The museums in DC are good and Chesapeake bay is really pretty.
I guess I need visitors so I'll get off my bottom and go look at stuff.

Bring sleeping bags and expect vegetarian orgainic food :)

At the end of the month we will be moving into a *large* house
with another Unschooling AP/TCC family. It's a mini-shared living
community and we are looking to add another family (or two) to the
mix. If anyone is interested, let me know!! The house is located
about 5 to 10 min. northeast of Burien (just south of Seattle). It's
in between two golf courses and has a small itty bitty stream
running through the backyard as well as a small pond.

In any case, the house is very large and I'd love to have people
come on over,,,,,,whenever!!! That's after we move in of course.

We would love to be a home base for other unschooling families
to gather.

Well, it took us 6 days to drive from NJ to WA this past
September. Hubby drove the Ryder truck and pulled one
of our cars behind it, while I drove our other car with two
kids and two guinea pigs! I was impressed that the kids
did soooo well!!

I suppose you could do it in 4 days if you're just driving
a regular car and not hauling anything behind you! :-)

eeep. Guess the coffee will be cold by the time I got there :(
I keep forgetting how big America is. We've barely ventured more than
hundred miles from home so far.
Good thing about england. You can be just about anywhere in less than a
day.
