Not I. :)
I'm a make up artist at the moment though...for Estee Lauder.
So I wear makeup regularly and LOVE it.
I'm a priss, I'll admit it. I like pretty clothes, I love playing with make

I DO like to be pretty, but lately I think I've forgotten how. With
four children, I now have a body shape that pretty clothes don't look
good on. Sigh...Time to get exercising I guess. Well maybe after...and
then I have to...maybe before bed...I guess tomorrow before everyone
gets up...

I find make-up to be a personal issue. Some women wear it and just feel better about themselves. Others prefer not to. Decorating our bodies does seem to be a very human trait, though.
I am too lazy to wear makeup. It takes too much time to put it on, then you have to take it off again before bed. I do use a moistorizer with sunscreen year round though.
My mom spent years doing things like buying me makeup and giving me makeup tips. She finally (after I turned 40) gave up and accepted that I don't wear it.
Years ago, a neighbor had two daughters. She let them wear makeup, except for a few places they weren't allowed to wear it too (church, can't remember where else). Her theory was that by the time they were teens, either the novelty of wearing makeup would be gone (compared to the kids who weren't allowed to wear makeup) or they would be really good at applying it. Obviously that is not an unschooling story, but this was before I knew about unschooling. She was a school at home, very Christian homeschooler. Her family did have a big influence on us homeschooling though. My husband thought their kids were nice and smart and polite, which made him think that homeschooling was a possiblility. They were the first homeschool family he really got to know. They have since moved away.

Same here, with Holly.
At my house when I was growing up, there were four girls. We were allowed to
wear make-up at 14 and date at 15. So at first on turning 14 we'd wear
make-up just because we had waited and it was our new milestone privilege.
Holly has always "been allowed" (sounds weird after all these years of "Sure,
whatever!" to the kids) to wear makeup. Sometimes she's garish and freaky
and sometimes it's subtle and usually there's none. But she doesn't
associate it with maturity or independence.
I think that's good.

Yep, same here.
Sierra is getting better at getting it non-garrish!! :)
But then, I can't resist saying "here, let me show you a really great way to
put that on."
She's pretty open to letting me give her tips.
She gets a lot of her own stuff to mess with and MY extensive makeup
collection is available to her also.
She's in a prissy girls heaven.
But you should see her on an average day. Torn jeans, tie-dye shirts and dirt
from head to toe! She's a well balanced individual. (must take after her Mum
:)
I personally LOVE how well-groomed fingernails look but find it much too
restrictive to wear nail polish very often. Everything I enjoy doing wrecks
havoc on nails, so why bother?
My face is another matter entirely. :)

I think that is more meaningful than many of the "real" weddings I hear about

Yours is more real because it was based on being together, not all the pomp

Cool.

You made me laugh, one of the twins, Kass, is super girly and owns more
makeup at 11 then I have in my whole life. She does the hair and nails thing

charges very reasonably. And on those rare occassions that I have needed
makeup for something special like a holiday or wedding, I just yell for Kass
and she checks what I'm planning on wearing and brings me the appropriate
choices for makeup. I never do eyeshadow because it just makes me feel too
clownish, but that hasn't stopped her from sharing how I should wear it if I
ever change my mind.
It's so funny because her twin, Kree thinks of makeup as something you do for
Holloween. Just proves the individuality theory.
Peace,

Yeah.
But there comes a moment when other forms of reality would be damned helpful.
You really ought to go down to some justice of the peace or judge, or maybe
in your state you can just do it yourselves and file the papers, but the
social security administration and probate court aren't going to care about
the photos of your really sweet ceremony. They're not going to hear you
singing.
It would be a shame if your kids lost out on any legal or monetary advantages
of your being married. (Now if you're both sneaky tax experts and you have
arranged it so you're better off without the marriage, I withdraw this
expression of concern.)

Kerrin or Ralph Taylor
Sandra, you are, oh-so practical <bg>
We have sorted all that out with our wills and here in NZ you can make your house a joint family home which, to simplify, means that whoever has the kids has the house. Also, the law here recognises common law marriage for most things.
Thanks for your concern.
Kerrin.
Yeah.

Kate, it sounds like your plans are underway to leave the Middle East.

Kate Green
Current plans are back to Knoxville, TN for 2 years. This is the first time
in our lives we have ever moved back to somewhere we have lived before (and
we've moved 10 times in 18 years of marriage:) so we are hoping it will be
easier. But organizing 4 kids, 2 dogs, 1 cat and shipments of furniture
from the Middle East, car and dog from California, snake from New Jersey,
and 2 storage units of posessions in TN is proving "interesting!"
