Magnets for Unschoolers
Fridge-Inspiration

Holly and Sandra Dodd, September 2011.

Words by Sandra, layout by Holly, photos by Holly or Sandra.

"It only takes a second to do better."

This image is a sunrise, viewed from our driveway. It looks like trees on a hill, but it's the tops of two nearby trees, and a mountain a mile or two past them. The mountains are a thousand feet higher there than where I was standing. That's a lot of sky, is what I mean to say.

"If your child is more important than your vision of your child, life becomes easier."

This a photo by Holly, of a picture she drew. She noticed a surprising rainbow projected by a crystal in the window. The art was black on white, until that day.

(This magnet has the unschooling website URL on it.)

"A joyful attitude is your best tool."

More surprise lighting, as an early summer sun came up through a second floor window and projected the lace curtains on the ceiling of our front room.

Adam Daniel going down a stile connecting the churchyard in West Wittering to a neighboring field.

"Part of creating a learning environment is creating a safe, generous, loving environment."

On the grounds of Leeds Castle in Kent (not in Leeds, as one might guess) there are albino peacocks, and black swans. I joked to James and Adam, my hosts, that this was an albino black swan.

"To have peace in your house, be more peaceful."
