In our house, it's not a power/control issue between us. Some food is healthier than other food and that is acknowledged. But little is forbidden. I mean, we're not sitting around doing shots with the kids -- that's forbidden. :) But regular old food is not forbidden based on its level of junkiness.

Except for peppermint ice cream -- which is just clearly insane! :)

You can smile swwetly and not say anthing as you son or daughter grabs cookies instead of an apple, but if you consider it "junk" and call it "junk" your kids WILL pick up on it and it will continue to be a power/control issue.

Let food just be food.
