I can't remember who runs that umbrella school...if you're here at
this list, could you please email me? I have people that are asking
for info. and I don't know who to send them to! Thanks.

I also have a question for you, FL umbrella school
person...What does it take to do what you're doing, at
least as far as your state goes? I am looking at
moving to Washington state, and I am wondering whether
it would be worth my while to start one of these as
well...for my use and for others if they want an
unschooling "teacher" (I could get my teaching degree
with little time and effort, so wondering if it's
worth my while, just for this purpose...)

Dana:

Here in Florida, and homeschooling parent may start their own 600 school, which I assume is the same as an umbrella school. One of the mom's in my homeschool group started and registered her own, and the law says, as far as I understand, that it can not be set up just for your own children. So she has to have other kids enrolled in the school. The school is not accredited, there is no testing or school work of any kind. The mom also is an unschooler. Also, by having him enrolled in "school" I do not have to have my son evaluated annually, per the local laws. HTH

She's not on the list - I've forwarded your question to her.
