Well....I've never gone alone, but I've never had dh there either.

I went with my four children, Jalen was 20 months the first year and
30 months last year. I survived, you can easily enough without older
children to worry about I'm sure.:)
It's very non-age discriminatory, it will be fun. You may miss
chunks of speeches, but just hanging out with 300+ unschoolers for a
weekend makes it MORE than worth it! Truly.
The conferences were the highlight trips of my kids lives....and
that's competing with their cousins in AK.
