Mistress Roane Faerggae of Lochlann

The words of Master Michael Fenwick:
This morning, 13 November 2001, my Lady Wife and companion of twenty-four years, Mary Stuart Morrison, known to us in the Society as Roane Faerggae of Lochlann, Companion of the Ancient and Honorable Order of the Laurel and member of the Society since 1977, passed from this life into the next and, God willing, happier one.

She was a 30-year sufferer of systemic lupus erythromatosis, multiple sclerosis, and fibromyalgia syndrome, and her last year was spent "locked in": unable to do anything for herself or even to speak. She had been in constant pain for the last several years, and the painkillers were not always able to take care of it.

She showed constant and extraordinary fortitude and strength of spirit, never complaining as the diseases took first her sight, then her ability to walk, then her ability to use a wheelchair, then her ability to care for herself, then her ability to speak, and, finally, her life.

She was born 07 October 1937, and died today, 13 November 2001, aged 64.

She will be missed by everyone who knew her, but no one should be sorry that she has died. I can think of no person upon whom I would inflict the trials that she endured for so very long.

She is survived by her two sons, John and Hugh, and by her younger daughter Abigail, and was preceded in death by her elder daughter Jennifer.

Please join me in saying farewell to an outstanding example of all the good qualities in humankind.
