I am thinking of signing up with one of these companies. Which one has the
best turn around time? Opinions, experiences? TIA

Netflix hands down. They have like 20 distribution centers to Mentura's one.
I'm over lapping right now and the service from Netflix is clearly winning
out. The overlap was due to frustration and a two week free trial. I think if
you live in California, Mentura would be ok, that's where their distribution
center is. Otherwise it can take a week to get a dvd shipped from Chicago and
checked into their system in order to get another back. I"m getting two day
turnaround from Netflix.

Also, Netflix has more movies. Mentura's bent is educational, Superman isn't
educational to them.

YMMV.

Are either available in Canada?

My guess is there might be a Canadian version, but I have not had good luck
with mail in and out of Canada. It's expensive and take way longer than U.S.
mail.

Those are sent a sort of first-class bulk, where Netflix pays the post office
by the lot as they're scanned in and out. That kind of mail can't go out of
the country. The mailer doesn't pay for it, and Netflix is probably paying
per thousand, from an account they have with the post office.

eV: Netflix going strong
... Int'l agenda. Also on the Netflix agenda is expanding internationally,
starting
in Canada and Europe. DVD player penetration overseas stands at only 20%-30%.

I didn't want to sign up for the site to read the whole article, but at least
here's a clue.

I dug around the Netflix site and only found this:
Question
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Where do you ship to? Do you ship internationally?
Answer

Netflix currently rents DVDs throughout the United States, including Hawaii
and Alaska. We do not rent outside of the United States with the exception of
the following U.S. Territories:

* Marshall Islands
* Northern Mariana Island
* Palau
* Puerto Rico
* Virgin Islands

I have a Mentura store but I don't use them anymore. My kids were wanting
scooby doo and such. I was with NetFlix before ... very quick turnaround
for me ... it was coming from MI and I live in Ohio. Might go back to them
again ...
