Someone asked about research re: whether adding structure to non-structure is
harmful. Alfie Kohn has an article called "Education' s Rotten Apples" in
Education Week , Sept. 18, 2002 (just Google it; I'm to bleary eyed to get
the link) that's on this topic. It basically says that providing structure
interferes with people's ability to construct their own knowledge. I thought
it was a great article.
