International Institute for Humane Education Will Lead Sowing Seeds Humane Education Workshop in New York City, April 26-27, 2003

"I can honestly say that it was the single most life-changing and eye-opening experience in my life so far!"
- Donna Calvao
Sowing Seeds Workshop, San Diego, CA

Surry, December 20th, 2003: Humane education pioneer, Zoe Weil, will be conducting Sowing Seeds workshop at the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) facility in Manhattan, April 26-27, 2003. Sowing Seeds is an intensive, two-day workshop designed to enhance participants¹ ability to effectively and creatively teach humane issues primarily at the secondary school level. Educators, advocates, and anyone wishing to develop their teaching and communication abilities to work for positive social change are encouraged to register. Participants will spend each day learning how to stimulate critical thinking and create learning activities that inspire students to more fully engage with and connect issues such as human rights, our treatment of other species, environmental protection and consumerism.

UFT teachers interested in the workshop should contact Dr. Sheila Schwartz,HECsheila@..., (212) 410-3095. All others should contact IIHE at www.iihed.org, info@... or (207) 667-1025 for a brochure and registration.

The International Institute for Humane Education (IIHE) is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a world where respect and compassion are the guiding principals in our relationship with the Earth, other species, and all people. To reach this goal, IIHE offers the first M.Ed. degree in humane education and Humane Education Certificate Program (HECP) in the United States. These distance-learning programs train students to be highly effective humane educators.
