I learned the European way from my British parents, reinforced by naval mess
dinners.

I do, too, as does my sister. My mother was quite proper in some ways and
taught us a few good manners :-) My husband, raised by an English mother,
also eats this way, but I don't think it is the norm in Nova Scotia. Most
people (men especially) use their forks like shovels.
