Why does this happen? This is about the third time I've noticed it, and it
usually includes a digest within a digest. What's up with that? Is it an
aol thing?

Hate to clog up the list with technical issues, but I've been trying to wrap
my brain around it...

Yes, this is an AOL thing. What is happening is the digests are too long (too big of a file size) so instead of sending it to you in text, it is converting it to a file for you to download.

As I recall AOL used to and may still limit the size of emails. So it chops
off long emails and turns them into attachments.
