anyone ever hear of FlyLady? Her philosophy is "Even housework that
is done imperfectly blesses the family" and the main thing
she "teaches" is "Shine your sink". Also "you can do anything for 15
minutes" such as cleaning in an out of control room. (not "cleaning
an out of control room": cleaning IN such a room)

I've used her methods to wonderful effect. My house is not in perfect
order, but also, it is never completely trashed, because of the 15
minute rule. And my kitchen is usually very nice and neat, because of
that shine the sink thing.

That was one of the things that bugged me about FlyLady!!!! Shine
your sink every day with clorox! Can you imagine all the people out
there breathing in all that clorox everyday? It is BAD for you.
She's irresponsible.

And I never wear tie shoes. ;)

Well, we all have asthma and there's no way I'm going to use bleach on
anything. But I can see her point about having a clean sink. I can make
mine sparkle without the bleach.

I don't do those two things. But I have used a number of her other ideas to
good effect: baby steps, 27 fling boogie, routines (my own).

Hmm, I don't remember ever reading that you must use clorox. In fact,
in one essay she sent, she mentioned having gotten her (steel) sink
shiny to begin with, and pretty much all it needs anymore is to be
polished with a clean, dry towel after washing it out with soap and
water (i.e. your hot, soapy water from doing the dishes).

Well I don't do Fly Lady but I do shine my sink every day. (surprised?) But
I use Barkeepers Friend, best thing ever for stainless steel, porcelain,
copper, etc.

Heidi,

Yes, I think you are right, though I think she suggests using Clorox when
you shine it the very first time.

I like FlyLady (am kind of on again/off again with it), but i have recently found a source for natural tea tree oil cleaning & home products at a decent price: www.momsforlife.funurl.com

I love them!

I was disappointed to find that they don't have any specific
information about their products on that website, and VERY disturbed
to see that it's a multi-level marketing thing. We tried the Amway
thing once--what a disaster that was! lol

And this would be spam. Let's keep the advertisements off the list.

Joyce,
Pardon my ignorance, but I thought spam was when you were plugging your own
business, not sharing a link where you found a good deal. So is the link I
sent to THe Natural Parenting Project a spam because I said I bought a
bumper sticker there?

Hi, Angela.

I'm not Joyce (I hope this is okay), but I think the issue is that the
message Joyce was referring to was an MLM business that the poster was
directly involved in (I remember that it was in her signature line). That,
I think, would fall under the heading of spam. If I'm wrong about that,
I'm sure someone will correct me.

I hope that helps!

Yup, what Marji said. It was one of those marketing schemes. Recommending
The Natural Parenting Project is just fine.

I'm sorry Sheila, it does just mainly have facts about health. But it is NOT an MLM, I promise!!

It's just a catalog shopping company with natural products, and if someone wants to build a business with it all they do is refer others to the company, and the company rewards them with commissions. Clear as mud? Anyway, if you want more info, just click on the "get more info" button and I can call you and answer questions, etc. It's actually a simple idea and I don't sell any products.

If this isn't for you, that's fine, too.
