matter). Coffee overstimulates the nervous system and, depending on the
susceptibility of the person, can cause a lot of problems (headaches,
insomnia, depression, ulcers, anxiety, and liver disorders). It is
actually pretty toxic for the liver and it inhibits the absorption of
iron and interferes with the absorption of calcium. In homeopathy cofee
is, of course, seen as a medicinal substance. It has great affinity to
the nervous system, the circulation, and the sexual organs. But in
homeopathic form, that is.
I remember one of the things that most shocked me when I moved to this
country was to see how addicted people were to coffee and sugar. You
could help yourself to a cup of coffee while shopping at the grocery
store or the supermarket, and I saw pretty much everyone on the street
with their cofees to go... and a pastry, a "junkin' donut" or some
sugary thing, of course...
As the old homeopaths used to say, it creates "a life artificially
doubled, artificially exalted." ;-)

My statement was that it's not different for children than for adults.
Some people it doesn't do much harm. As for "overstimulating the nervous
system," some people have a very low baseline nervous system, low blood
pressure (I do--they always re-tested during my pregnancies, thinking they
must've been wrong), and caffein isn't jarring. I have NEVER liked coffee,
not even coffee-flavored ice cream or anything. But the fact that I don't
drink it doesn't change the falsehood told for years that it's fine for
adults but harmful for children.
Pointing out a lie isn't the same as advocating its opposite.

I would take those "studies" with a grain of salt, because you never
know whose financial interests are behind them. They can be very biased.
That's why I trust homeopathic provings. They deal with the substance
more directly and show what it can cause (and therefore cure).
It is known in homeopathy that coffee can prevent (or dissolve) stones,
both gallstones and kidney stones, but is it worth the price? I'd rather
take it in homeopathic form and leave my liver alone.
About making women smarter... Hmm, I don't know. Why would it work on
women only? And what is "smarter," according to this article, having
good memory? The article also says that hormone replacement therapy
enhances brain power. Yes, but at what price again? It causes cancer.

pre-motherhood to 2 cups a day.
That said, everything you said about coffee is true but so it is for
sugar, additives, hydrogenated fats and refined starches. You might
as well call them the staples of the US food industry --the fact that
they call it food manufacturing and not cooking, just explains a lot.

Since we're talking about coffee...
Outside of homeopathy, don't some people use caffeine to treat ADD like symptoms?

Yankee Candles has a really good smelling candle called Hazlenut
coffee. Maybe if it's the smell you love you could just light the
candle in the mornings?
I can stay away from coffee, although I don't think I'd be able to
turn down a good cup of swiss mocha cappachino. What I'm addicted to
is chocolate and coke. I just don't understand how someone could
have a bag of anything chocolate in their house and not have it eaten
in a day.

I don't know about that but I have heard people say that their
doctors encourage them to give their asthmatic kids a good dose of
caffeine (through sodas) a day.

Yeah, that is because, like I said before, if coffee can produce asthma it can cure it too. Allopaths have sometimes encountered those principles homeopaths have know for 2 centuries without knowing how or why. The problem I see with giving the crude substance is that it is more toxic and harsh than necessary to cure. So, it's a shock that suppresse the symptoms for a while but doesn't cure the person. You'd have to keep giving the substance over and over until it doesn't work at all.
Same thing with inhalers and such, except that those are not similar at all, like coffee in this case.
Yol
