There's also decent train service in England, isn't there, Shyrley? Any
chance of getting there by train, or do we need a car while there.

I'm also trying to figure it out, I'm wondering if I don't camp in a tent am I going to be really far removed from the rest of the group? We are checking into those trailer/type campers, pretty reasonably priced. But I love the campfires and all that stuff,,,so,,,hmm
I don't know about trying to lug a tent through airports! I know my dh doesn't think that sounds very fun. And he'd probably be the one carrying it.
Brenda, what type of sleeping accomodations are you considering?
Shyrley, you bring a tent from the US?
Is anyone else out there thinking about going over? From the states? It is very reasonably priced, airfare, in May, to England is pretty resonable, I know, tho' , it still is several hundred dollars for five of us so, I do have to add it all up. My in-laws might want to go over too, so that would be fun too.
Anyway, again I'm rambling to 900 people, sorry!

It sounds fun, but I can't go.
I did have this to say to Kelli and other American possibles:
My friend Helena went camping, American style, among locals there. She said
her camping-neighbors were AMAZED that she made pancakes while camping, so
she shared them with the others around them.
It's an idea. <g>
But then again, maybe among homeschoolers amazement is harder to induce.

We camped at Yosemite once, and felt like we were in a parking lot in a city.
We were just passing through, driving from San Jose to Albuquerque (NOT
recommended) and it was just me-pregant, Kirby two years old, and Keith our
fearless driver and guide. Even though it was October, they crowded people
into adjoining spaces, busses came by to take us to the visitors' center,
there were ranger-led things scheduled about every hour, there were several
places to eat...
Next to us was a single guy from Los Angeles, sleeping in a nice new sleeping
bag in the middle of his allotted space, no tent, on ground that was more ash
than dirt, NO grass. He was thrilled to be out in nature. We wanted to get
back on the road and get to New Mexico where it wasn't so structured and
crowded and ashen.
